South Florida Business Journal Honors Assurant's Miami Campus

Assurant Solutions/Assurant Specialty Property Named 2006 Business of the Year

Miami, Fla.: The South Florida Business Journal, a leading business weekly, has presented Assurant's Miami campus its 2006 Business of the Year award for general businesses in Miami-Dade and Broward counties with $25+ million in annual revenue.

Adam Lamnin, executive vice president and chief financial officer for Assurant's Solutions and Specialty Property businesses, accepted the award on behalf of Assurant's more than 1,750 Miami employees during a gala luncheon at the Broward County Convention Center in Fort Lauderdale.

The award was presented as part of the newspaper's annual competition for employers of all sizes and types in South Florida. The awards program includes 14 categories. Finalists are selected from nominations submitted by the companies themselves. This year's competition attracted 130 nominations.

Gary Press, publisher of the South Florida Business Journal, said a panel of 14 judges determined the 2006 award winners. Nominees were required to provide detailed information about employee benefit and improvement programs, awards, corporate philosophy, goals and mission, innovations and diversity initiatives.

In several categories, including the one in which Assurant Solutions and Assurant Specialty Property were honored, judges made on-site visits, meeting with management and touring facilities.

The newspaper said the judges who evaluated the Assurant companies specifically mentioned how the companies' corporate values - integrity, change, urgency and excellence - were reflected in the workplace. "The local office has been a leader and innovator in developing family-friendly services and benefits that include the campus day-care centers, which accommodate 140 children, infant through age 5, and a K-5 elementary school," the judges wrote said.

Regions Bank, Ratline Cohen & Holtz, Aimed Health Plans, U.S. Imaging Solutions, Nova Southeastern University-H. Wayne Hazing School of Business and Entrepreneurship, and Setline Insurance sponsored the awards program this year.
